Storytelling

Madeline Pots Storytelling

Storytelling is a partnership between the teller and the audience. I look out from the stage and see a room, or tent, or auditorium of friendly faces waiting to be entertained. I think of these folks, be they adults or children, as guests in my living room, come to share a warm moment.

Often, as I am telling a story, I hear little sounds from the listeners indicating recognition of a shared feeling or experience. Right then and there, while words are coming out of my mouth and my arms are moving in supportive gestures, I am rejoicing in that feeling of connection.

Storytelling is an interactive art form. I am nourished by the energy of my audience and often, inspired by the stories they share with me after a show.
